Environmental Health licenses the keeping of certain animals including:

• animal boarding (kennels and catteries)
• dog breeding
• riding establishments
• pet shops
• zoos (there are no zoos within the Wakefield District)

When applying for a licence the Council's Animal Health Inspector will inspect the premises to ensure animal health and welfare is protected.  A fee is payable when applying for a licence.
