Animal movements
For specific enquiries concerning animal movement issues in the Wakefield area please contact the Animal Health Section on 0845 8 506 506.
What movements can take place:-
- You can move ruminant animals anywhere within the Bluetongue protection zone.
- You can move ruminant animals to specially licenced abattoirs outside the Bluetongue protection zone.
- You can move ruminant animals into the Bluetongue Control Zone, however, you must comply with the movement restrictions within the control zone.
- You can move ruminant animals into the Bluetongue protection zone from the area outside the protection zone.
What movements can't take place:-
- You cannot move animals from the Bluetongue protection zone to the area outside the zone, unless to a licenced abattoir.
Normal bio security measures should always be maintained when visiting or carrying out works on agricutural land. However there are no requirements to restrict countryside access to the public.
