About the Anti-Social Behaviour Unit

Due to organisational restructures within the Anti-Social Behaviour Unit, Neighbourhood Patrollers will no longer be dealing with complaints of general anti-social behaviour.  Examples of this are: 

  • Abusive behaviour
  • Children playing ball games
  • Fireworks
  • Climbing into property
  • Youths drinking in parks and general open spaces
  • Lighting of fires
  • Gangs/rowdy behaviour
  • Off road motorbicycle vehicle nuisance

These are police issues and as such should be referred to 0845 60 60 60 6, or if immediate assistance is required please contact the emergency services on 999.

Wakefield Councils Neighbourhood Patrollers are now called Environment Officers, and they will be focusing on environmental issues (littering, dog fouling, litter clearing notices.) 

You can still continue to report environmental issues through to Wakefield Council’s Contact Centre on 08458 506 506.

Wakefield Council 's Anti-Social Behaviour Unit (ASBU) has a number of special teams dedicated to tackling all areas of anti-social behaviour. 

  • Rapid Response Team deal quickly with minor incidents like litter, fly-tipping and graffiti. They work round the clock, seven days a week, responding directly to your calls.
  • Neighbourhood Patrollers provide high visibility presence to deter and reduce crime and reduce fear of crime
  • Vehicle Nuisance Team - are working with West Yorkshire Police to tackle the dangers and problems caused by illegal off road biking.
  • Dog Warden Service are responsible for dog ownership, dog fouling, micro-chipping and neutering schemes and lost, stray or dangerous dogs.
  • Anti-Social Behaviour Team
  • West Yorkshire Police work in partnership with the Council, will be on the move around the District with mobile units, visible patrols and surveillance.

Wakefield Council's ASBU aims to provide a comprehensive and co-ordinated service to reduce crime and disorder and the fear of crime.

Through partnership working we aim to create a safe and clean environment that aids regeneration and leads to a thriving local economy.
