Enabling Positive Youth Engagement

Wakefield, leading the way in Positive Youth Engagement, hosted an innovative and informative Beacon Open Day event in September 2006, setting the standard for how local authorities and their partners can meaningfully involve young people in decision making for their district.

Delegates witnessed first hand the engagement activities that have been developed in the District. 

The event featured workshops on: the use of innovation and technology in positive youth engagement; grant giving; enabling the involvement of young people in recruitment and selection; the use of arts in positive youth engagement and quality assurance-young people as inspectors and mystery shoppers.  There was also a ‘marketplace’ showcasing the experiences of young people and partners as well as performances and presentations by young people in Wakefield.
