Welcome to the Special Educational Needs Inclusion Guidance web pages.

These pages all relate to Government Legislation, including the Code of Practice on Special Educational Needs, The Green Paper: Every Child Matters, Disability Discrimination Legislation and others; as well as  Wakefield’s own policies, practices and procedures on Special  Education Needs and  Inclusion.
 
The Guidance is intended to be used to keep parents, professionals and organisations up to date and well informed so that the varied and complex special needs of children and young people in the Wakefield area can be effectively met.

The ultimate aim of these pages is that all those responsible for the education, training and care of children and young people will have access to, and endeavour to follow the same policies, practices and procedures throughout Wakefield LEA. Through these the LEA, schools and services should concentrate on working in partnership to promote effective approaches to inclusion.
