Panto Time

It’s panto time with the Council’s travel plan team who are inviting children, staff and parents to dress up as characters and join them on a walk to school.

The team will also be presenting their take on a famous panto with a road safety message to promote safely walking to school, park and stride schemes and walking buses.

Councillor Pat Garbutt, Wakefield Council’s cabinet member for children and young people, said: “As well as being fun, these events promote walking as a healthy way to start to the day for children and their families and also help reduce congestion on the school run.”

Parents are being invited to join in the walks at the various schools. England Lane is combining their event to officially open their new parent waiting shelter as part of their park and stride scheme.
