Children and Young People's Plan (CYPP)

No descriptionBackground

In March 2006 Wakefield Council published its three-year Children and Young People’s Plan, which was underpinned by Wakefield’s vision for children and young people of ‘Safe, Supported and Fulfilled’. The Plan was produced following consultation with and the involvement of a broad range of children and young people. The views of more than 6,000 children and young people had considerable influence on the vision and the priorities.

The plan sets out a number of priorities to improve outcomes for children and young people. Much has been achieved since the original plan and we have learned much about the well-being of children and young people within Wakefield. It is important therefore that we review the plan to ensure that our priorities remain relevant and the District’s resources and efforts are being channelled into the right areas to ensure that we make the best possible impact on the well-being of children and young people.

Consultation

Details of the consultation exercises we undertook, together with the learning from this, is contained within the plan. We have listened to Wakefield’s children and young people, the professionals working within the District and have relooked at the demographic information available to us. Through this work we have reviewed the priorities originally set in 2006 and have identified new priorities which will provide the focus for 2009-2012.

By working together, the agencies within Wakefield can make a major impact on outcomes for children and young people and are fully committed to delivering the priorities identified.
