Whitby Harbour/Abbey/ Sandsend

Whitby HarbourWhitby Harbour

Whitby Harbour is located on the north east coast of England to the south of the Tees and north of the Humber. The harbour separates the east and west sides of the town and is attractive for the berthing of vessels due to the proximity to the town’s amenities.

Whitby has a rare mix of the old and the new and the harbour reflects this with the vessels utilising the facilities. Traditional fishing cobles, modern trawlers, leisure craft and cargo vessels are all accommodated.

Whitby Abbey

Whitby AbbeyOne of Britain’s best loved attractions, the iconic ruin of Whitby Abbey is a must when visiting the Yorkshire coast. Generations have been drawn to this dramatic headland as a site of settlement, religious devotion and literary inspiration.

Take time out to wander the peaceful ruins and take in fabulous views of the picturesque harbour town of Whitby.

Sandsend

Located just a few minutes drive north along the coastline from Whitby, Sandsend, located at the foot of Lythe Bank, is a small picturesque village set against a backdrop of cliffs with two meandering streams leading to a long sandy Sandsendbeach.

It is a popular haunt with fossil collectors and fishing enthusiasts. An ideal playground for the family with the beck providing safe paddling and boating for children of all ages. The beach runs into Whitby sands which makes it a nice length for a brisk walk.
