How can the Choice Advice Service help me?

Our aim is to ensure that you get the chance to see and understand all of the information available, so that you can make the best and most realistic choice of school for your child. We can help by:

  • Answering your questions and listening to your concerns
  • Giving advice on all aspects of the school admissions process, including the admissions policies and over-subscription criteria for all of the different schools
  • Providing information about schools in the Wakefield district and neighbouring authorities, including their facilities, size, specialisms, curriculum, extended services, exam performance and OFSTED reports
  • Arranging for you to visit schools
  • Providing information on school transport, travel and uniform policies
  • Working with you to complete the application form
  • Explaining the options if your child does not get a place at the school you want
  • Giving you support and guidance if you want to appeal when your child does not get a place at the school you want

The Choice Advice Service will not make a decision about which school is best for you or your child and we cannot recommend or guarantee a place at any school – what we can do is provide you with the information you need to make an informed and realistic decision.
