Can I choose any school?

You have the right to choose the 3 schools that you would prefer your child to attend but there is no guarantee of a place at any of your preferred schools, even if one of them is your catchment school.

If a school is “over-subscribed” and does not have enough places to take all of the children who apply, then a set of rules – the “over-subscription criteria” – will be used to decide the order in which places are offered.

Remember, if all of your preferred schools are over-subscribed you may not get a place at any of them. If this happens, you will be allocated to the nearest school that has a place available. This could be any school in the Wakefield district.

When you have chosen the 3 schools you prefer, you need to apply for a place.
