Funding For Play

As part of the Big Lottery Children’s Play Initiative, Wakefield Council have been awarded £772,573 to improve play opportunities and play provision across the district.

The funding from the Big Lottery Fund will support the Council’s Playing Out in Wakefield (POW!) portfolio of play projects.  It aims to provide exciting, inclusive free play provision and opportunities for children and young people and includes a play area in school grounds open to the local community, an environmental playscheme, an Adventure Playground and two mobile play projects.

The projects will start in spring 2008 and the funding will last for three years.
