To find out what children young people and adults feel about play opportunities in the Wakefield District we gathered information over the last few months at:
- Wakefield Playday
- Wakefield Speaks
- Forward for Youth meeting
- Celebrating Good Practice Conference
As part of the audit of current play provision and play opportunities, questionnaires have been sent to all schools and registered supervised settings to find out what play opportunities they provide for children. The results of these findings will contribute towards the portfolio of projects. We have collated some findings from places that will be used as part of the Play Strategy:
- Wakefield’s Children Fund
- Lupset Play Area Association
- Wakefield and District Play Forum
- Youth Service
- Groundwork
- Parks and Public Realm
We are particularly interested in gathering consultation data from some of the “hard to reach” groups of children and young people e.g disabled children, BME groups, asylum seekers and refugees and the travelling community as these groups are often underrepresented.
