There are 12 Council Day Nurseries (Neighbourhood Nurseries) throughout the Wakefield District and 5 of these are run by the Council. The following information just concerns Council Day Nurseries.
The Council Day Nurseries provide child-centred learning with a clear link between care and education. They are in purposely designed childcare facilities, fully-equipped and resourced to high standards. They may also provide more than childcare. Other services include:
- learning and training opportunities for parents and carers
- family learning
- family support
- advice and information.
- links with Children's Centres and Sure Start Local Programmes
- links with local groups, services and organisations
