Sure Start Children’s Centres provide a range of easily accessible and flexibly tailored services for families and children from pregnancy until the age of five. Their services include integrated early years provision and health services for children.

They may also offer parenting education, family support services, outreach to parents, a base for childminders and links with Jobcentre Plus, Family Information Services (FIS) and further education institutions too.

They are open a minimum of 48 weeks a year, five days a week, ten hours a day.

Thirteen of the Centres are already up and running and the remaining 7 are planned to open throughout 2008.
