Childminders

If you looking for a list of childminders please contact the Wakefield District Families Information Service on 0800 587 8042

Registered childminders look after your child along with other children, usually in their own home.

They are allowed to care for to up to six children under the age of eight, including their own – but only three of them can be aged under five.

Self-employed, they decide on working hours. Most are willing to work early mornings, evenings and weekends, as well as part-time.

All childminders are required to have completed a basic training course, including first aid and most go on to do further training and professional development. There are childminders who also demonstrate ongoing commitment to professional development by joining Wakefield District Childminding Network, which is a quality improvement programme.

Your child should experience learning and development activities suitable for their age, which are based on Early Years Foundation Stage.

For more information on childminders you can contact the Wakefield District Families Information Service on 0800 587 8042 or look on their website (see 'Related Links).
