Why work with children?

Quality education, cTeacher painting with childrenare and play for children from birth to age 14, makes a real difference to their lives, laying the foundation for all round development and preparing them for adulthood.

Thousands of children are already benefiting from the input of people like you, people who care about children and their future, who have the commitment, energy and enthusiasm to be positive role models.  So why work with children?  It's simple...because they deserve a good start!

The Service is committed to developing the recruitment and retention of childcare practitioners in the Wakefield District.

We have a Workforce Recruitment Officer, whose role is to develop relationships with a range of businesses and agencies that employ childcare workers, and to work with childminders, workers in nurseries, play groups and play workers in and out of school clubs.

The service has an aim to promote and develop working within childcare, and also has an extensive programme of workshops and meetings, which aid people who are interested in working in the childcare field with application forms and general advice.

If you would like further details on any workshops that the department is planning, please contact the Workforce Recruitment Officer.
