Connect3
Are you aged between 8 and 16 years old and worried about being overweight? Do you have a child who is overweight or obese? Would like to help them to live a healthier life?
If so the CONNECT3 programme could help you.
Connect3 is a 10-week programme where you and your family can learn all about how to have an active, fun life. You can also learn the importance of healthy food, how to manage your weight sensibly and how to feel happier about yourself.
We run two sessions each week. One lasts one hour and includes physical activity. The other is a two-hour session with physical activity and another activity such as healthy cooking, gardening or orienteering. All our sessions are fun and interactive.
We also have regular visits from children's doctors, dieticians, school nurses and other professionals providing advice and support. Because it's really important for the whole family to support each other if you have younger brothers or sisters, we can include activities for them too. That way everyone can take part.
Children who have completed the Connect3 programme might be interested in taking part in Connect3 Active. This is a new programme that aims to help youngsters continue to keep up their physical activity levels long-term. Connect3 Active will be starting up at places across the district over the coming months.
We've also linked up with Children's Centres to introduce Connect3 Junior for families who have children aged 0 - 7. There will be fun activities for the youngsters and helpful sessions, such as cooking and eating sessions for parents.
