Wakefield Council's Community Coach Education Programme is an initiative aimed at improving both the number and quality of sports coaches, officials and administrators in all sports throughout Wakefield.
The programme is suitable for anyone interested in sports coaching and running sports organisations. You do not need to be an experienced sports person to get into coaching, commitment and enthusiasm are more important. Some of the courses in this programme do not even require you to have experience of playing the sport.
If you are a club player, casual player, a volunteer, a parent or teacher, or if you work with young people and would like to be involved in sports coaching, then this programme will help you to take the first step on the coaching ladder. If you are already involved and hold some kind of qualification, the Coach Education Programme offers other higher level awards for you to upgrade your coaching qualifications.
The cost of courses have been kept to an absolute minimum by the Sport & Recreation Unit and its funding partners in order to encourage all members of the community to take part.
What can I do once I've gained my qualification?
Suitably qualified sports coaches and organisers are always in demand.
Make sure you liaise with the Sport & Recreation Unit during and when you finish your coaching qualification so that you can work together in partnership with us to put your award to good use in your community.
We hope you find this programme useful.
