Haw Park Wood is the Council's second largest Ancient Woodland. The sixty-eight hectares of ancient replanted woodland is located on the edge of Wintersett village, just six kilometres south-east of Wakefield.
Haw Park Wood is ideal for walking, relaxing and enjoying nature. There is open access to all parts of the woodland though most visitors keep to the woodland rides and the all-weather footpath network. The Trans Pennine Trail and the disused Barnsley Canal pass through the wood providing good walking and cycling links to the wider countryside.
How to get there
Haw Park Wood is situated next to Anglers Country Park, Wintersett.
By car: Follow signs for Waterton Countryside Discovery Centre, or Anglers Country Park from the A638 at Crofton, Purston and Pontefract and from the A61 at Notton.
Anglers Country Park provides ample car parking and is only a short walk from the woodland.
