Walking
The Country Park is ideal for short walks or take a longer ramble on the surrounding network of public rights of way. Pick up a trail leaflet (see 'Related Links').
Horse Riding and Cycling
The bridleways and disused Chevet Branch Line permissive path offer good off road routes. Always give way to walkers. Cycling and horse riding are not permitted on the lakeside path.
Access for All
The lakeside path is suitable for wheelchairs, booster scooters and pushchairs. Please note access to the upper room of the Boathouse is by 8 steps.
Orienteering
For those a little more adventurous, test your map reading skills on the permanent orienteering course. Orienteering information packs are on sale from the Countryside and Conservation Service. Please contact the service before your visit to obtain a pack.
Fishing
Fishing is also a popular pastime at the park. The fishing is leased to Wakefield Angling Club. Please contact the club via their website http://www.wakefieldac.co.uk for access to fish the lake.
Wildlife Watching
Meet the friendly ducks, but some of the wildlife is more elusive. The woodlands, marshland and open water are home to a variety of birds and animals.
Eating and Drinking
Newmillerdam village offers a choice of pubs, cafe and restaurant. There is a hotel a short distance away on the A61 towards Barnsley.
