The Waterton Countryside Discovery Centre at Anglers is a great place to visit, to enjoy its exhibitions or just come for a picnic.
The centre is named after Charles Waterton, the famous 19th century naturalist who created what is thought to be the world's first nature reserve at nearby Walton Hall (now the Waterton Park Hotel).
At Waterton Countryside Discovery Centre Charles Waterton's spirit is abroad. Put on the countryside explorer's helmet and get ready to meet the 'ghost' of naturalist Charles Waterton. Learn more about this explorer and pioneering naturalist and listen to the Spirit of the Wood.
Enter the interactive and learn more about Charles Waterton's pioneering conservation ideas. You can watch a live link to a bird box or visit Kiddies Corner with puzzles, games and craft activities for children.
