Parks and Nature Conservation

Wakefield District is situated at the heart of Yorkshire and offers a unique landscape and a wealth of open spaces.

We have twenty-two urban parks managed and maintained by the Council.  Each has a diverse and distinctive character and there is something for everyone - relax and enjoy the gardens, greenery and wildlife, or play or watch sport.

Our country parks make a valuable contribution to environmental conservation, providing habitat for wildlife and offering  an opportunity for everyone to enjoy nature.

We have a number of sites that are protected for their wildlife value including Nature Reserves and Sites of Scientific Interest.
