Whether it’s a fortnight in Barbados or a weekend in Bridlington most people take some kind of holiday regularly.
We might go to relax on the beach, play sport or see the sights, we might travel by plane, train or automobile and we usually bring back something to remind us of where we’ve been.
The objects in the case are to do with holidays old and new – what local people have taken with them and what they have brought back.
The objects in the case included a pair of children’s beach shoes, a 1930s knitted swimming costume, and souvenirs from Blackpool, Great Yarmouth and Scarborough.
Young library visitors packed armbands, sunglasses and a passport into teddy’s holiday suitcase and had a go at seaside jigsaws.

Activities in the library included getting Teddy ready for his holiday and holiday jigsaws.
Children from the crèche at Airedale’s SureStart centre worked on underwater pictures inspired by beach holidays and made fossils from clay.
