Sequins and safety pins, Saturday Night Fever, the Sex Pistols and Star Wars – just some of the things that remind us of the 1970s.

This exhibition looked at some local events of the decade –

• The successes of Featherstone Rovers,
• The miners’ strikes of 1972 and 1974
• The massive local government shake up that saw the birth of Wakefield Metropolitan District Council.

Activities

Staff at Normanton library re-live the decade at a coffee morning to celebrate the opening of the exhibition.
