Laying the foundation stones for Unity House

The foundation stones  for the Co-Operative Wholesale Society’s building Unity House were layed in September 1901

                   

Queen Victoria statue in the Bullring

After her death in 1901, statues of Queen Victoria were erected in towns and cities all over the country. In 1905 crowds gathered for the grand unveiling of this statue in the Bullring. The statue was moved to Clarence Park in 1950, and was returned in 1985.
