Open market trading rents
Wakefield Council has changed the way it collects rent from a daily cash collection system to a monthly collection by direct debit.
There are no facilities for traders to pay cash on the day at any of our markets. Casual traders are required to pay their stall rent by debit or credit card and must contact our dedicated team on 01924 307466 to arrange payment once they have been allocated a stall.
Once you have been signed up for a regular licensed stall you will be required to complete a Direct Debit Mandate Form to facilitate payment. The mandate form will be provided in your licence pack. It is the trader’s responsibility to ensure that correct bank details are supplied to the Council.
Rent is collected on the 20th of each month, meaning traders will be paying two weeks in arrears, one week when it is due and one week in advance.
Traders will automatically receive four weeks free rent per year for each licensed stall once they have stood at the relevant market for 12 consecutive months.
