The market hall is outdoor Monday to Saturday and Pontefract is home to the district’s largest street market.

There is an outdoor market every Wednesday and Saturday in the pedestrian precinct and a small fresh produce market on Friday. 

The street market boasts an amazing 116 stalls that sell a vast range of goods. These include fresh fruit and vegetables, a baker, fresh eggs, mobile phones, children’s wear, adult clothing, bedding and towels, carpets, flowers, greetings cards and a watch repairer. 

There are also a few second hand stalls on Wednesdays near the museum and a small crafts market on the first Friday of the month.
