Car boot sales are popular events but can only be organised by sporting, political, social or charitable organisations. As car boot sales are classed as markets, the Council has a policy for licensing such events. Table Top Sales also come into this category and are subject to the same rules and regulation as car boot sales.
It is important that organisers notify the Council of their intention to hold a car boot sale or table top sale. Wakefield Council has sole Market Franchise rights to regulate the operation of markets throughout the Metropolitan District. All organisations who intend to hold a car boot sale or table top sale within Wakefield District boundaries, must apply for approval.
