Wakefield Libraries are celebrating the National Year of Reading 2008 with many activities, promotions and events planned for the year.  Details of events will be available on this site, and at your local library.

Each month will have a theme as follows:

April – Read all about it
Read anything and everything, anywhere and everywhere.

May – Mind and body
Celebrate the links between reading and health.

June – Reading escapes
Holiday reading, how reading helps you escape into different worlds.

July – Rhythm and rhyme
Celebrate poetry and lyrics from Shakespeare to Snoop Dogg.

August – Read the game
Sport and reading.

September – You are what you read
Celebrate and explore cultural, personal and local identities.

October – Word of mouth
Storytelling, reading out loud, reading together and live literature.

November – Screen reads
Reading and writing; scripts, television and films.

December – Write the future
The year ends with a celebration of all forms of writing.
