  • www.1911census.co.uk - Free index, but credits must be purchased to see the full information.

Archives

  • www.nationalarchives.gov.uk - The Documents Online section provides access to digitised records such as WW1 medal rolls, Domesday Book and wills proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury. Free index but a fee for downloads.
  • www.archives.wyjs.org.uk - West Yorkshire Archives Service website, including searchable database of records.
  • www.arch.wyjs.org.uk - West Yorkshire Archaeological Services which also holds the county’s Sites and Monuments records.

Scotland and Ireland

  • www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk - Online searching for censuses, parish registers, wills and births, marriages and deaths.
  • www.nationalarchives.ie - National Archives of Ireland website, with information on the 1901 and 1911 censuses digitisation project.

Armed Forces/ War Casualties

  • www.cwgc.org - Commonwealth War Graves Commission site. List of men and women from Commonwealth forces who died in two world wars.
  • www.wakefield.gov.uk/remember - Website dedicated to the stories of people from across the Wakefield District who served their country in times of conflict.
