Talking Computer at Drury Lane Library
Drury Lane Library has a computer which can be used by visually impaired people to write letters, surf the net and to send and receive email. The computer will talk to you as you type to tell you what you have written.
This new way of using a computer allows anyone struggling with all the common tasks to access it with simplicity. It uses a novel approach, - something like touch-tone dialling on the phone - to take you through things like e-mail, word-processing, Internet access, personal organising and listening to your favourite CD tracks. By presenting a few simple choices at each stage, it guides you through - all you have to do is press a number.
If you have sight problems and want to use this facility, contact Drury Lane Library on 01924 305376. Other services for visually impaired people at Drury Lane include free loans of books in large print, talking books and music CDs. There is no charge for the service.
