FREE SWIMMING! Anyone aged 16 and under or 60 and over can participate in public swimming sessions for FREE!
Swim 4 Free
is an initiative for people aged 16 and under and 60 and over to help them stay happy and healthy.
The Swim 4 Free programme will run between the 30 March 2009 to 31 March 2011 and is available at any Wakefield Council Pool: Castleford, Featherstone, Normanton, Minsthorpe and Pontefract, Lightwaves Leisure Centre and Knottingley Sports Centre.

- Public Swimming
- Lane Swimming
- Parents and Tots (Tots Only)
- Splash Zone
- Swim and Chat
- Adults Only
- Ladies Only swimming
- Family Swimming (Children Only)
- 50 + Swimming (Over 60s only)
Free Swimming Registration Card
Registration for Swim 4 Free is available free at any Sport and Active Lifestyles facility by completing an Activate Leisure card form. Cards are available from all Council leisure venues for free swimming. There will be no registration charge for the card and Registration can be completed at any point over the two years.
The card is not compulsory, but will allow people to benefit from the further discounted activities of the Activate card as well as the Swim 4 Free scheme. Swim 4 Free is being delivered in conjunction with Change for life and Swim 4 Life.
Child Registration
Cards will be issued to children aged 8 and above, as this complies with our child admissions policy. Children aged 7 and below will be still gain free admission but have to be accompanied by an adult.
(Discounted dry side activities sessions will still be available with a Category 2 card for people aged 60 and over)
