Prime Timers

Prime Timers is our programme of activities for over 50’s that are run at selected Sport and Active Lifestyles leisure facilities in the Wakefield district.

Leading a healthy lifestyle is the best way to maintain a healthy heart, body and mind.

The ‘Prime Timers’ activities provide over 50’s with an opportunity to maintain this balance in sociable and friendly sessions at most of our pools and leisure centres.   

Activities include:

  • Over 50’s keep fit
  • Badminton
  • Boccia
  • Pilates
  • Table tennis
  • Water based muscle mobility activities

    Our Aspire Leisure Scheme enables customers to access swimming, Aspire fitness gyms, fitness classes,

  • Swimming 

Refreshments will be available and you can have a break between activities to catch their breath or catch up with friends. All sessions are run by Health and Wellbeing Activators who will also be on hand to offer advice throughout the sessions.

  • Monday and Thursday
  • Swimming available from 8am to 12noon
  • Dryside activities available from 9.30am to 12noon

Lightwaves Leisure Centre: Tel 01924 302315

  • Wednesday and Friday 9.30am to 2pm  

Thornes Park Stadium: Tel 01924 302385

  • Tuesday 11am to 12pm,  Friday 1pm to 2pm  

Normanton Swimming Pool: Tel 01924 302475

  • Tuesday 10.30am – 11.15am  

Minsthorpe Swimming Pool: Tel 01977 723200

  • Wednesday 9.30am – 11.30am  

Each site offers different activities as part of the Prime Timers Programme. Please contact one of the Active Lifestyles Activators on 01924 307811. Alternatively please contact sites for activities that are on offer.
