Wakefield Sports & Recreation Service manages 175 pitches and 75 sites across the district, 24 of these sites have changing facilities. In addition to Football and Cricket the Council also provides pitches for Rugby League, Rugby Union, Hockey, Lacrosse, Rounders and American Football. Over 200 teams use Wakefield Council Sports Pitches and 31 different leagues and associations are represented. 

Booking playing fields and sports pitches

Bookings can be made for the above sports, either seasonally or on a pay and play basis.

Winter games such as Football, Rugby, Hockey or Lacrosse can be booked anytime during the months of September to April. Summer games such as Cricket, Rounders or American Football can be booked between April and September.

If your club propose to run more than one team, a separate application form must be filled in for each team and returned to the Sports and Recreation Office.

All bookings should be made through the Playing Fields Officer. Bookings can be made by telephoning and requesting an application form (see Contact Us details below). Once the application form is completed it should be returned with full payment to the address given in Contact Us, all cheques should be made payable to 'W.M.D.C.' If cancellations are made up to 24 hours prior to the game commencing, then a full refund will be offered.

Weekending: 27th + 28th September 2008
Games scheduled for this weekend will be played at the referees discretion.
