1929 - 1930 season.   Working in dangerous conditions instilled a unique comradeship amongst miners which often reflected in their leisure activities such as sport and music, at which they often excelled.   Sharlston mined its’ last coal in March 1993 with the 128 year old colliery officially closing on May 28th the same year.
