Shaw's Mineral Water factory was situated in the middle of Wakefield itself. Note the very simple telephone number; and the 'Telegraphic Address' would have been the equivalent of the email address of today.
I am not sure that 'Lycetol', 'Lithia' and 'Piperazine' are names to encourage purchase but as they are for medicinal purposes perhaps a vaguely chemical name was considered more comforting and suitable!
All these different waters available ... and we thought bottled water was a recent fashion fad!
The supply of 'non-alcoholic' drinks was an important adjunct to the strong Temperance Movement of the time. Free samples too! I wonder if these were available at Cooling's Temperance Hotel?
