Advert 1901
This hotel is an interesting contrast to the other, Cooling's Temperance Hotel, in this collection. Situated near the station it catered principally for the commercial travellers/salesmen who had to rely on trains in the days before motor vehicles. Definitely no temperance influence here.
Why was the 'Smoke Room' the "finest in the City", and the 'Concert Room' "unsurpassed in the North"?
