Location and directions
Ten minutes walk from the centre of Wakefield and Westgate Station, the Local Studies Library is housed in the Balne Lane Headquarters of Wakefield Libraries and Information Service. There is free car park but please display a car parking permit available from the Library counter.

About our services

The Local Studies Department in Wakefield holds the main collection for the district. This includes material in all formats from newspaper cuttings and ephemera to limited edition books. - Computers with free Internet access and Local and Family History CDROMs
(please note: all use of the equipment except the photocopier must be pre-booked)
Charges:
- Reader/printer - 40p per A4 copy; 80p per A3 copy
- Photocopier - 10p per A4 copy; 20p per A3 copy
- Computer prints - 10p per page for Black and White, 30p for Colour prints
