Wesleyan Chapel 1968

This Wesleyan Chapel stood at the main crossroads in Featherstone where Station Lane meets the Wakefield - Pontefract road on the corner between Girnhill Lane and Wakefield Road.  This picture was taken shortly before its demolition in 1968. One of six methodist chapels in Featherstone this was the largest.

The building further along Wakefield Road which has three large panels on its frontage was not demolished. It had the roof removed and the panels have been decorated by an impressive ceramic mural tracing Featherstone's history.
