Railway Hotel 1920s

The pub is still there and still selling John Smiths beers although in recent years the name has been changed. The upstairs room was used to hold the inquest into the deaths of the victims of the infamous 'Featherstone Massacre' of 1893.

Note the market stall opposite the pub - this was the original site of the weekly Featherstone market which is now sited in the shopping precinct lower down Station Lane.

The original railway station buildings can also be seen behind and to the side of the pub. These buildings were demolished soon after the closure of the line in 1967. The rail link  was re-opened in 1992 although the station buildings have not been replaced.
