Footpaths, Bridleways and Rights of Way

Public right of way in WakefieldThere are more than 350 miles of signed and waymarked district wide public rights of way which allow access to enjoy the wider countryside and attractive places of interest.  Wakefield Council manage the day-to-day upkeep of the paths network.

There are lots of places where you can go to walk, ride horses and cycle for fun, for health benefits and also enjoy visits to places of interest. You can use the public rights of way network to get there.

Take a look at our Walking and Cycling pages in the link below to give you inspiration. Why not take it easy, check out the special offers and travel to the start of a walk or ride by public transport? Have a look at the Public Transport related links to plan your journey using Metro’s Journey Planner.

Remember, public rights of way are across private land. Landowners would be grateful if you would please keep to the path and follow the Countryside Code (see Related Links).
