Information for schools

We can help you bring the excitement to learning!

All our sessions can be used to support learning objectives and are for a maximum class size of 35 Primary. The programme uses the museums’ rich collections, local landmarks and history to create memorable and interactive learning experiences.

All sessions are flexible and can be adapted to meet your needs. If you don’t find the topic you are looking for, just let us know. We always welcome suggestions for new topics and ways to help you.

Wakefield Museum closed to the public on Saturday, 26 November 2011 in preparation for the move to its new home within the new civic building - Wakefield One - at Merchant Gate.  We are pleased to say that a good selection of our most popular workshops (plus some exciting new ones!) are now available in-school or at the castles.  Please see our latest programme for details.

We are using the time whilst the museum is closed to reflect and redesign our service for schools.  We therefore need the input of current teachers so that we can best meet their needs when our new museum and library opens!  So, if you are a current teacher, please spare us a few minutes to download the form from the ‘related downloads’, and email it back to us.

We look forward to welcoming you and your pupils to our museums and castles. All sessions are offered on a first come, first served basis at a date and time to suit you!
