Adam Lofthouse

“Improving Five Towns for the better”

My name is Adam Lofthouse and I am 13 years old.  I live in the Five Towns area.  I am very proud of where I live and could not imagine living anywhere else.  My reason for standing as a Youth Parliament candidate is to improve the Five Towns and Wakefield district area for the better, especially for the young generation.  I would do this by hard work and determination.  I want to make young people proud of where they live.  I am a very good listener and would take on everyone’s views and ideas so we could work together.

These are a view of my ideas that I would put in place if I am successful in gaining a place on the UK Youth Parliament.

Racism

It can be hard to just simply turn on the television without learning that a racial incident has happened somewhere in the world that is why I would like to bring different communities together to meet and understand each other’s ways of life and their beliefs.  Everyone has to realise that we are all the same under out skin.

Youth Projects

Boredom and a feeling of not liking where you live is some of the issue I heard from the young people from the Well Project Youth Group in Normanton, that I recently met with.  The Well Project is a youth programme that provides help and advice and activities for teenagers.  It is only open certain hours so it made me think I would like to try and provide a youth/community café in the Five Towns area, it would also provide a safe and friendly environment to be in.

Elderly

Our elders are an important part of our community; the youth/community café would also offer activities for the elderly such as coffee mornings and a place to meet and chat.  Not everyone has families so they need a bit of extra support.
