The Standards Committee

Wakefield Council has a Standards Committee, which promotes high standards of conduct in the Council. The Committee advises Councillors and has agreed a Code of Conduct for Councillors. The Code is similar to one which is used nationally.

All Councillors must follow the Code and if they break it then they can face sanctions up to and including disqualification as a Member of the Council for up to five years.

The Council's Standards Committee is the first point of contact for all written complaints against Elected and Co-opted Members. In appropriate cases, complaints may be referred by the Standards Committee to Standards for England (please see 'Related Links').

Agenda, Reports and Minutes

All documents relating to the Standards Committee are available online (see 'Related Links').
