Complaints against Councillors

Wakefield Council Standards Committee is responsible for dealing with complaints against Wakefield Council Councillors as well as Town and Parish Councillors within the Wakefield District.

  • List of Town and Parish Councils within the District is available in the related links.

Wakefield Council Standards Committee is:

  • Responsible for receiving allegations of breaches of the Councillors Code of Conduct and deciding whether any action needs to be taken (referred to as ‘Local Assessment’).
  • Required to report periodically to Standards for England on complaints received and how they have been handled.

Standards for England are responsible for monitoring and ensuring the effectiveness of all local arrangements.
