The Local Area Agreement is a joint programme between the Council and other key organisations in the district that sets out the priorities in the Wakefield area for the next three years and ensures that they concentrate on delivering services that matter to local people.
This is an Agreement with the government that sets out priorities and targets for the next three years for the district and also says how funding will be used.
The Agreement will involve the the Wakefield Together Partnership organisations, which involves the Council, the Police, NHS Wakefield district, Wakefield and District Housing, representatives from the Voluntary and Community Sectors and also business interests.
All these organisations are committed to delivering on the following three key priorities for the district:
- Skills, enterprise and work
- Healthier communities
- Safer and stronger communities
The Agreement is a key part of delivering the improvements we want to see in Wakefield district – it will be used to prioritise resources and actions and it will be used as a key measure of whether what we are doing is having the right effect on people’s lives.
It also makes it easier to report more widely on the impact of what we do to local people and annual progress reports will be made available through The Citizen and other reports distributed across the district.
