CPA 2008 results published – Wakefield retains four stars

In January 2009 we reported on the results of our corporate assessment and how our improved score resulted in a four star CPA rating for the first time ever.

The Audit Commission has now announced the final CPA scores for 2008 and we are pleased to say that we have retained our four stars.

This is great news for us and the citizens of Wakefield. It is a reflection of the hard work and commitment of all our employees and of the quality of the services we provide, both on our own and jointly with partners.

The Council has made real progress in making Wakefield a safer, healthier and more prosperous place to live and continues to address issues that citizens have said are important.

This four star rating is the result of the improvements we have made, both on our own and with our partners, and is something for which we should all be proud.

Our services are rated highly; all of them have been scored as 3 out of 4 or higher. And the Audit Commission has said that we are getting even better, describing the Council as “improving well”.

Delivering value for money is increasingly important in the current economic climate where we have to make sure that citizens benefit from every pound we spend. The Audit Commission has rated us as 3 out of 4 in this area.

We know there is much to be proud of but there is more we still need to do. The Council is committed to going beyond its ‘excellent’ rating and delivering high quality, value for money services. So, on behalf of our people, we will continue to work with partners to improve the quality of our places.
