Internal Audit and Risk Services
The primary objective of Internal Audit is to assist the management of the Council by examining, evaluating and reporting on the adequacy of the Council’s internal controls. Based on this work, advice and recommendations will be made where necessary, as to how procedures can be improved to manage the risks faced in providing Council services to achieve its corporate objectives
- It assists Wakefield Council officers and members in the effective discharge of their responsibilities by providing independent analysis and appraisal.
- It exists to carry out an independent appraisal of the effectiveness of internal controls, financial and other, to ensure they contribute to the effective management of risk in achieving objectives set by management through policies, plans and procedures.
