Budget 2011/12

The Council is facing huge challenges resulting from the severe cuts in Government funding being imposed over the next four years. The cuts hit particularly hard in the next two years meaning that the Council has been left with no choice but to make changes to some of the services it delivers to Wakefield people and to make those changes quickly.

The Council’s overarching priority in setting its budget for 2011/12 and the medium term is to protect services for the most vulnerable people of Wakefield. The Council will still be the major provider of services for Wakefield people in 2011/12 and we will do all that we can to protect the services for those people who are most in need.

The budget proposals for 2011/12 have been assessed using the Comprehensive Impact Assessment (CIA) framework by all corporate and service directors.  The Council’s budget report is covered by an overarching CIA (published at the time of the report) (see download 'CIA of Budget Proposals 2011-12' and 'CIA of Budget Savings 2011-12' ) and specific background CIA’s have been prepared by directors to cover each of the revenue budget proposals, as detailed below:
