Rolling Registration 1 December 2011 - 10 August 2012:

Anyone moving into the district, or moving within the district or anyone who has not previously registered to vote, can register during the year through the “rolling register” procedure by simply completing and returning an electoral registration form.

By-Elections:

  • Hemsworth Town Council - West Ward
    A Town Council By-Election will be held in the West Ward of Hemsworth Town Council on Thursday, 9th February 2012.
    Please see the "Current Elections" link for copies of the Notice of Election, Statement as to Persons Nominated and the Election Timetable for the By-Election.

The Council's Electoral Services Office is responsible for:

  • The preparation and annual publication of the Electoral Register
  • Maintaining and up-dating the register during the year through the rolling registration procedures
  • Maintaining the absent voters lists i.e. electors who chose to vote by post or through a proxy appointed to vote on their behalf
  • Arrangements for local (district and parish), national elections (parliamentary and European parliamentary) and referendums
  • Arrangements for reviews of the electoral arrangements for the district
  • On 1 December each year, the Electoral Registration Officer publishes the revised register of electors, along with a booklet of electoral area statistics known as the Electorate Analysis
